Kelly Blue Book released its listing of the 10 Best Used Cars Under $8,000 on January 5. With the continued lack of economic promise for many Americans, this list can be a great help for many. In fact, with more people than normal entering the used vehicle market and the removal of many used cars from the market to the 2009 Car Allowance Rebate System, also known as “Cash for Clunkers,” it is presently tougher than ever to find a reliable, yet affordable, used car.

- 2004 Pontiac Vibe
- 2004 Scion xA
- 2003 Ford Escape
- 2002 Toyota Tundra Standard Cab

Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director for Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com, explained that the rankings were pulled from a compilation of all of the 2002 cars or newer with a value of $8,000 or less. “We… went through the list and handpicked the 10 used cars with the most appealing mixes of reliability, versatility and desirability, with an emphasis on track record. The vehicles on our short list offer incredible value for today’s budget-conscious car shopper,” said Nerad.
Given the modest price of these vehicles, most of them can be financed with your job is your credit loans – a key advantage for consumers whose credit scores have been damaged by the down economy.
